Heath Ledger’s funeral was held yesterday. His family flew into New York from Australia for the private service. Heath’s funeral was very private, meaning family and home town friends only! No camera’s, no video taping, no media, none of the above! Some fans are pretty pissed off about this, but it’s best for the family that the service remain private. In the media, once the funeral is held, the attention dies down and the story tends to wrap up. There will be a little more attention once the autopsy results come back, and some notes here and there, but for the most part everyone moves on. For Heath’s family, this is just starting and it’s a very personal thing. I think a private funeral is best for the family, this is a difficult time for the family and the media should back off and respect that. We keep them in our thoughts.

How Insane has confirmed that two of the medications found at Heath Ledger’s N.Y apartment were Xanax and Valium, both anti-anxiety prescription drugs. Cops also found Ambien, along with several medications prescribed in Europe. Heath’s body has since been transported from the Medical Examiner’s office to the Campbell Funeral Home in N.Y.C. Heath’s autopsy was completed this morning and the results have come back inconclusive. That often happens when the cause of death is complicated or uncommon. People has confirmed that Ledger had pneumonia at the time he died, though it’s been ruled out as the cause of death. According to a forensic pathologist they interviewed, pneumonia is readily identifiable during an autopsy, because the lungs are filled with fluid instead of air. However it could still be a contributing factor. When Anna Nicole Smith died she had a bad case of the flu. A sick body and a weakened immune system could still play a role in Ledger’s death. Of course this is speculation, but a bad combination of cold/flu drugs combined with prescription medications can be dangerous. “The autopsy was inconclusive,” New York City Medical Examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove tells How Insane, “We have to do further testing including toxicology and tissue testing. Neither cause of death or manner of death has been concluded. We expect additional results in 10 days to two weeks.”

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in his SoHo apartment at 3:26pm yesterday afternoon. Heath was 28. His housekeeper let a masseuse into the apartment for an appointment. When Heath didn’t answer his bedroom door, both women entered the room and found his lifeless body. They tried to wake him and yell out his name, but they got no response…they immediately dialed 911 and waited in his New York apartment until the ambulance showed up. No foul play was suspected and a bottle of pills was found near his body. There is some speculation that the overdose was intentional and the police are saying that there’s a lot of signs pointing to suicide. Heath broke up with his wife, actress Michelle Williams in September. They have a 2-year-old daughter together named Matilda. Heath and Michelle were very private, and managed to keep a pretty low profile living in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. Both Heath and Michelle stayed out of the spot light and avoided media attention or bringing attention to themselves as much as possible. Heath had several run-ins with the Australian paparazzi, which really upset him, and reportedly contributed to his decision to move to the U.S. Heath and Michelle were notoriously media shy and they didn’t want any part of the press. No one really knew why the pair broke up and when they did, it wasn’t discussed with the media in any way shape or form. This is truly awful news, particularly since I am not aware of any history of addiction for Heath, but the holidays can be very stressful for some people…especially if you’re usto spending it with your family and they’re no longer around. TMZ reports that Heath did have a history of substance abuse, but had been clean for an entire year. One of his closest friends told How Insane, that Heath had been struggling in his battle to kick his bad habits and was marjory struggling with his sobriety; especially after him and his wife broke it off and went their separate ways. His close friend went on to say, “After splitting with his wife Michelle, things got very dark for him… his one true joy was his daughter Matilda and being separated from his family was extremely difficult for him.” His close friend went on to say, “Heath was in such struggle with his sobriety that many of his closest friends feared he would die sooner or later after he fell off the band wagon. News of Heath Ledger’s death has shaken friends of the actor. “This is terrible and I’m in shock, but to tell you the truth… we saw it coming. Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober,” Heath can currently be seen portraying Bob Dylan in, “I’m Not There”, he is also playing the Joker in the latest Batman film, “The Dark Knight.” Since the movie hasn’t even been released yet, there’s no word on whether the filming of his role was complete. This is a truly tragic situation.

Update: It’s now being reported that there were two bottles of medication found near Ledger’s body: one an over the counter sleeping aid, and the other a prescription. Due to HIPPA laws, no information has been released about the prescription or what Ledger may have been taking it for. A commentator on Headline News (whose name I didn’t catch) said that he’d interviewed Heath Ledger several times over the years, including “recently.” He said, “Heath wasn’t a fan of the press in any way, shape or form” the source goes on to say, he seemed especially out of it the last time the two spoke.” He described Heath’s behavior as nervous and jumpy. He said that he believed it’s possible that Heath accidentally overdosed. He noted that Heath was very honest in the last interview, discussing his battle with insomnia and how he’d taken Ambien and other sleep aids to get some Zzz. There’s many stories floating around, one commentator pointed out that, considering one of the pills was an OTC sleep aid…it is possible that Heath accidentally overdosed. The commentator went on to say, as an actor, he would have at least expected Heath to “stage” his death, instead of being found naked with pills everywhere. This is just one person’s speculation, but he does make a valid point. . ”I hate to speculate, but given what’s been reported, I’d have to go with the police on this one, it seems likely that Ledger committed the ultimate act, suicide. Though a lot of people assumed Anna Nicole Smith had killed herself (I personally think Howard Stern did it, but that’s just my opinion), it ended up being ruled accidental. Ledger’s autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. We’ll update you as further information becomes available.
